Tom provides detailed assessments of buildings at point of sale. Providing bespoke reporting systems using a range of delivery methods including traditional written reports, table format red flag reports and issues-logging. Tom understands how to manage large volumes of data in Virtual data rooms and obtaining information through on site interviews. TAG Surveying understand these instructions are fast paced and the focus required. Unfortunately, we are not able to offer domestic home surveys to owner occupiers.

Tom has decades of experience fulfilling contractual roles for the execution of building work. Whether this is for typical contracts such as JCT and NEC or bespoke client contracts for specific building programmes, Tom strongly believes that the success of any project requires collaboration between the parties, removing perceived hierarchy and building respect amongst the whole construction team. This approach – coupled with detailed technical understanding – makes for excellent contract delivery.

We provide part 35 of the Civil Procedure Rules complaint expert witness reports for housing disrepair claims. Our surveys are comprehensive and detailed. We spend time to establish the probable cause and resulting impact of building issues and set these out clearly in a schedule. We will consider the severity of the defects and whether these constitute actionable repair. We do not present any bias to our reports which are presented to the court for consideration should the matter reach that stage.

Tom has been administrating the The Party Wall etc Act 1996 since its implementation. Clients come to Tom time and again to deal with their party wall matters for two reasons; he understands the Act and he understands the process in the context of the wider construction process. We focus on problem solving and minimising the impact of the Party Wall process on a development.

All Dilapidations work is undertaken in accordance with the Dilapidations protocol and in line with the RICS Dilapidations guidance note. Tom is able to provide clear guidance on a tenant’s liability or a landlord’s potential entitlement. Working with our clients and their legal advisors we aim to keep Dilapidations discussions clear and simple.

Tom has been engaged in a wide range of persistent defect investigation. These include subsidence, basement water ingress and concrete failure to name a few. Tom applies a forensic process to resolving problematic building defects: Understanding how construction works and where the point or points of failure are is key to resolving these issues.
